Overview
Virtual Gridiron was the first virtual reality sports game that allowed two fans to go head-to-head against each other in real time. We built it for the 2017 Super Bowl in Houston, and more than 5,000 fans played Virtual Gridiron.

Goals
Demonstrate the draw of a VR sports game that allowed fans to compete one-on-one with themselves and with pro football stars, including Drew Bree’s, Odell Beckham Jr, and others.

Solution

Immersive, multiplayer experience.
Included live 360 footage of actual or former NFL players in uniforms running plays on the Arizona Cardinals official NFL stadium.
First instance of a multiplayer VR experience that included live capture of football players in 360 video from wire cams above.
Results

Live-streams of NFL stars playing and social coverage generated over 140,000 views and 3.6 million impressions.
Among the most popular exhibits at the Super Bowl with more than 5,000 fans participating.
Won two Clio Awards for game innovations: Silver and Bronze.
